To optimize levels of sterility and safety,  Dr. Novack performs dental implant surgery in our clinic’s hospital-style operating suite. Our patient health and safety are of paramount importance. For most patients, the placement of dental implants encompasses two surgical procedures.

The first surgery involves placement of the implants into the jawbone. Healing time following surgery varies from person to person and is based upon a variety of factors including jaw bone hardness and the potential need for bone grafts and/or gum grafting. There are however certain cases where implants may be restored immediately after they are placed. Dr. Novack is committed to minimizing numbers of surgeries and expediting patient care, but will never compromise our patients’ final treatment result.

For the first three to six months following surgery, dental implants located beneath the surface of the gums gradually bond with your jawbone. You should be able to wear a temporary denture and eat a healthy diet throughout the healing period. During that time, your restorative dentist will begin to design the final bridgework or denture that will ultimately provide you with the function and aesthetics you desire.

After the implants have bonded to your jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Novack will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar (abutment). Generally within six weeks, your restorative dentist will be able to start construction of your new teeth. An impression will be taken and from that model, posts or attachments will be fabricated that connect to the implants. The teeth replacements are then made over the posts or attachments. Generally, the entire implant procedures take four to six months. Our patients typically find implant treatment a positive experience with little if any disruption in their daily lives
