Infection Control and Sterilization Techniques

At Philip A. Novack, Periodontics‘s office, we view infection control and sterilization as a sacred trust. We are sensitive that the spread of infectious diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis, herpes and even the cold flu virus are on everybody’s mind. You will be reassured to know we have adopted the latest in infection control-sterilization techniques as recommended by the Canadian Dental Association, Health Canada and the United States Center for Disease Control.  All instruments that enter a patient’s mouth are either sterilized or single use only. Extensive use of barrier techniques are also employed. In addition, disposable face masks and gloves are changed between every patient. Every piece of equipment in our office is meticulously cleaned with disinfectant and each treatment operatory scrubbed and sanitized prior to seating our next patient. The functioning of our autoclave is checked daily and the sterility of each set of instruments is verified prior to their use. Dr. Novack fully understands that your treatment must be provided in an environment that is absolutely safe and secure.
